Hugo Häring Award 2/5
The Depot Wangen has been awarded a Hugo Häring Award from the Association of German Architects (BDA). The jury’s citation reads: “The building complex at the Stuttgart-Wangen Waste Management Centre exemplifies how even large-scale infrastructure can be convincingly integrated into the urban context and designed to a high architectural standard. In particular, the vehicle canopy, constructed using a hybrid timber structure, is transformed from a mere parking area into a striking structure with a surprisingly atmospheric effect. The carefully designed break areas, changing rooms and office spaces also create a pleasant and tidy working environment for the staff of the municipal refuse collection service.”
